Actually, he did not say this of his own accord; rather, as he was High Priest that year, he was prophesying that Jesus was going to die for the Jewish people, and not only for them but also to bring together into one body all the scattered people of God.

Whenever God has made a promise He has fulfilled it. Many times we get stuck with the circumstances of life, missing the point that God is preparing a way, For God's ways are not our ways. And He who began the good works in you will bring it to fruition in His time.
I pray that you remain rooted to your faith in God our Father knowing fully that He will accomplish your purpose, like with Jesus who willing submitted himself. And may his Holy Spirit reveal to you all of God's promises. Amen
