Spiritual and Material Blessings

Be generous when you worship the Lord, and do not stint the first fruits of your hands.

Sirach 35:10 NRSV

Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields, for my sake and for the sake of the good news, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this age houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions and in the age to come eternal life.

Mark 10:29-30 NRSV

There is more joy in giving than in receiving and you must have surely felt this joy at some point when you gave. But when we give to God we tend to set a bargain up, forgetting that all we have is a blessing from God. We are called to give like the widow gave, without the left hand knowing what the right is giving, for spiritual and material blessings both come from above, and they come according to God's Will, Purpose and Timing.

I pray that God our Father is pleased with every offering you make to Him as you emulate His Son Jesus who gave himself up as pleasing and perfect sacrifice. And may His Holy Spirit guide you to doing what is pleasing and acceptable to God. Amen

With God, All things are possible

Their iniquities are not hidden from him, and all their sins are before the Lord. Yet to those who repent he grants a return, and he encourages those who are losing hope.

Sirach 17:20,24

The one common mistake we often make is, to think of ourselves as righteous, yes we are called to be and live righteous lives, but on our own accord, we can do nothing. For all that is deep within us is not hidden from God, yet when we give to Him all that is within us He accepts that and gives us all that is within Him thus making us who we ought to be. For with God, all things are possible.

I pray that God our Father in His Mercy pours out on you His Grace so that you are, at all times submitting to His will like Jesus and in everything you do, you do it for the greater glory of God. May His Holy Spirit be your counsel and guide. Amen

Don't Worry, Be Happy

Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.

Isaiah 49:15 NRSV

Therefore, do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive commendation from God.

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

There will be times where nothing seems to make sense, and everything seems to be against you, just like the child whose parents contemplate abortion, you too feel hopeless and rejected. Know that Christ has gone through the same. Yet He never stopped trusting His Father and lived for the day as He let His Father’s will be done. Therefore, do not be disheartened or discouraged by what the world or you think about yourself. God gave you life for a purpose because He knows you the best.

I pray that God our Father brings to light all the blessings He has placed in your life, so that you can see the Hand of God in every moment and breath of your life. Like Jesus may you live one day at a time, as you let God’s will be done in your life and may His Holy Spirit be your guiding light. Amen

Called to be like little children

Their ways are always known to him; they will not be hid from his eyes.

Sirach 17:15

“Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.”

Mark 10:15

Children from diverse cultures will never differentiate with one another because of their cultures, skin colour or economic background. They will be honest with each other and most importantly they will love all the others just as themselves. Adults, on the other hand, are simply the opposite, that is why the word of God says in Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

I pray that God our Father through his grace, give you the wisdom and the understanding to the see the world as He and His son Jesus do, with Love, transforming your heart like that of a little child. And may his Holy Spirit stay close to your heart. Amen
