The Word - Full of Life

"Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches."

Matthew 13:32 NIV

Reflection:

While the word of God may seem to be mere words. These words are full of life. When they take roots and grow in your heart. They transform you to a life giving instrument.

Prayer:

God our Father, Thank you for sowing your word into my heart, deep within me the image of your son Jesus Christ my lord and saviour abides and abounds. May your Holy Spirit be with me at all times. Amen

Jesus The Real Treasure

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

Matthew 13:44 NIV

Reflection:

In some way, we too are searching for treasures, but perhaps aren't aware that it is Jesus that we're really looking for. If we seek and we shall find and then like the apostles, we too would place him above all else.

Prayer:

God our Father, Thank you for the desire you have placed in my heart to search for a treasure beyond measure. May I find it as I seek your son Jesus and may your Holy Spirit help discern what is right. Amen

When Jesus Says Yes

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die"

John 11:25 NIV

Reflection:

When Jesus says yes, nobody can say no. Because all authority has been given to him. Pay heed to his words and Believe.

Prayer:

God our Father I thank you for you called me into existence and gifted me life. And this life is for eternity through the merits of your son Jesus. Be with me Holy Spirit and deliver me from every doubt. Amen

God First

"You shall have no other gods before me."
Exodus 20:3 NIV

In giving us this commandment God makes it very clear that nothing and absolutely nothing comes before or beside him. Our worship is for God alone.

God our Father we put you first in our lives, lead by the example of your son Jesus. May your Holy Spirit helps us, as we willingly submit to you. Amen

Fulfillment of Scripture

In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: "You will be ever hearing but never understanding;  you will be ever seeing but never perceiving."

Matthew 13:14 NIV

Scripture is God's word and Jesus is the fulfillment of scripture. He is God's word made flesh. Listen then to His word and believe.

I pray that God our Father instills in you the desire for his word in the incarnate of Jesus Christ as you journey on. And may his Holy Spirit be your counsel and guide. Amen

Listen and See

But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.

As Christians, we are blessed to have the word shared with us. It gives us our fill and is nourishment for our soul. But do we really pay heed to God's word?

I pray that you delight in the word that comes from God our Father through his son Jesus who is the source and goodness of all life. And may his Holy Spirit give you an understanding his ways. Amen

Your Choice

Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Your life is a gift from God and what you make of it is your gift to him. You can do it your way or submit your will to him and do it his way. The choice is yours.

I pray that you submit your life to God our Father who gave it to you so that He can direct your path to walk in the light of Jesus his son. And may his Holy Spirit be your good counsel. Amen

Stand Still

"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

Exodus 14:14 NIV

It's easier said than done. But it's not impossible, to be still we have to stand firm and rooted in faith, till the winds of grace come to our aid.

I pray that God our Father increases your faith as you stand still and rooted by the side of his son Jesus. And may his Holy Spirit nuture your life. Amen

Gift of the Spirit

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Romans 8:26 NIV

The gift of tongues is a truth and nothing but the truth. When you submit to the Holy Spirit, He will help you use this gift and when you pray in the Spirit you see God's will.

I pray that God our Father bless you with all the gifts of his Holy Spirit as you build and maintain a relationship with him, just as Jesus did so as you seek the will of God. Amen

His Love Endures Forever

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1 NIV

From the Garden of Eden to the Arc of the Covenant. From slavery in Egypt to the parting of the red sea. From Adam's disobedience to Jesus' obedience. God's love endures forever.

I pray that you taste and see the love of God our Father as he pours out his Blessings on you. May you accept the hand of sonship Jesus gives you so willing and may his Holy Spirit help you discern the will of God. Amen

Jesus Gives

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Luke 9:1‭-‬2 NIV

The good works of our Lord continue until this day. But the power comes because He gives. Therefore ask and you too shall receive.

I pray that God our Father grants you all that you ask for in name of Jesus his son, thus making this world a better place. And may his Holy Spirit be with you in all your endeavours. Amen

Trust God

So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.

Exodus 3:20 NIV

'After that, he will let you go.' Notice God knows everything from the beginning to the end. We just have to trust him and his timing.

I pray that you trust God our Father unconditionally as you live the Jesus life of faith, hope and love. May his Holy Spirit give you peace and patience at all times. Amen

Be like a Child

"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

Matthew 11:27 NIV

God wants to reveal himself to us too, the only condition is we ought to be like little children: Innocent, non-judgemental, loving, kind and always caring.

I pray that God our Father bestows on you the grace that brings out the child you were always meant to be. may you walk in the light of Jesus Christ and may your steps be guided and gaurded by his Holy Spirit. Amen

Repent

Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed because they did not repent.

Matthew 11:20 NIV

The Lord does wonderful works in our lives because he wants us to draw near him, but we cannot hide the baggages' of hurt and sin. That is why we are called to repent.

I pray that you accept the calling of God our Father to a new life in Jesus Christ as you renounce and repent the past. May his Holy Spirit give you the wisdom to understand God's ways. Amen

Carry Your Cross

"Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me."

Matthew 10:38 NIV

A true disciple does not do things half done but does exactly how he was taught. Jesus led by example as He carried his cross, are we truthfully carrying ours?

I pray that God our Father gives you the strength to carry your cross each day as your draw inspiration from his son Jesus. May his Holy Spirit give you courage and confidence of faith till the very end. Amen

Good Soil

So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11 NIV

But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

Matthew 13:23 NIV

There is power in God's word, it all depends on how it is received; along the path, on rocky soil, upon thorns or good soil. Let our hearts be a ground of good soil...

I pray that God our Father plows your heart with his word made flesh in Jesus Christ his son through whom you are made co-heir. And may his Holy Spirit give you the wisdom and understanding. Amen

Keep the Faith

But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,  for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

We often think that God is far away, but know that He is in control of every situation. For the wrong done by man can only be made right by him.

I pray that you keep the faith you have in God our Father even in the most testing of times, just like Jesus did on the cross. And may his Holy Spirit give you the wisdom to walk and talk in the light and knowledge of God. Amen

God detests disobedience

If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.

We know God is love. We know he is kind and generous and a forgiving God. But we also ought to know that he detests disobedience.

I pray that you accept in your life all that God our Father wills for you knowing that He did the same for Jesus who willingly accepted the cross. And may his Holy Spirit assist you along life's path. Amen

Heaven is for real

As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’
Matthew 10:7 NIV

Heaven is more closer than we can imagine. Every time we say the Lord's prayer, we will for it to be done on earth as it is in heaven. But are we ready for heaven?

I pray that God our Father blesses you with a eagerness to live life on earth as you were called too, walking in the path of his son Jesus. And may his Holy Spirit deliver you from every thing that is not of God's Kingdom. Amen

Workers in the Field

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:37‭-‬38 NIV

The situation still remains the same although we are called to his work. Let us continually pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out more workers into his harvest field.

I pray that you heed the call of God our Father as you continue the good works of Jesus his son in  bringing his people to their true home. And may his Holy Spirit be with you in every endeavour. Amen

Disciple of Jesus

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."

Matthew 16:24 NIV

We all want to be disciples of Jesus, but his instructions are clear 'Deny Yourself', 'Take up Your Cross' and 'Follow Him'. Are you willing?

I pray that God our Father bestows on you the grace to deny yourself and become more like Jesus Christ his son. May his Holy Spirit be your counselor and guide. Amen

Come to Me

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28 NRSV

Are you tired, weary and burdened? Have tried everything that exists within this world to give you relief or to escape and has it worked? Jesus calls, “Come to me…” Give it all to Jesus and he will change your sorrow into joy. 

I pray that through the grace of God our Father, you answer Christ call to you and in doing so may you find rest and peace that the world cannot give. And may his Holy Spirit give you comfort and guidance. Amen

Accepting Grace

"No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse."
Matthew 9:16 NIV

With Jesus our life is made new, if we crave for the old, know that it will pull us away even deeper then where we've come. It all comes down to the choice of accepting grace.

I pray that you receive wholeheartedly the grace that comes from God our Father as you walk in ways of Jesus his son. And may you find good company with his Holy Spirit. Amen

God desires Mercy and not Sacrifice

On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 9:12‭-‬13 NIV

Jesus is very clear about his mission. God is not like a principal who is pleased by a good scorecard. He is loving Father who wants us to love him in return.

I pray that you recognise the love God our Father has for you in the smallest of blessings you receive each day as you grow in the image and likeness of Jesus his son. And may his Holy Spirit deliver you from every thing that is not of God's Kingdom. Amen

His Grace is Sufficient

Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.

Genesis 22:8 NIV

God sometimes tests us, but it is also He who provides us with his grace to overcome every test. For the will of God will not take you to where the grace of God cannot protect you.

I pray that you stay rooted to your faith in God our Father just as Jesus did even when on the cross submitting himself willing. May his Holy Spirit give you courage, wisdom and understanding. Amen

God has a plan for you

No matter who you are or where you're from, if you are here on earth know that it is God's will. And he has a plan and purpose for your life.

I pray that you submit willingly to the plans God our Father has for you, may Jesus his son give you the strength to do the works you have been called to. And may his Holy Spirit be your counsel and guide. Amen

Do unto God

The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Matthew 25:40 NIV

There is no secret to the kingdom of God, He has revealed it all to us. Whatever we do unto the least of our brethren, we do it unto Him.

I pray that God our Father gives you the grace to reach out to your brethren. May Jesus Christ be your model of selflessness and may his Holy Spirit be your guide. Amen

Experience Jesus

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Jesus is not calling us to a blind faith. You may not see him directly and that doesn't mean you cannot have an experience of Him. Jesus is calling us to a relationship and relationships are best experienced.

I pray that God our Father bestows you with a surreal experience of his son Jesus as you submit to His calling. And may his Holy Spirit help you discern God's will. Amen

Finding New Life in Christ

Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.

What Christ gives the world cannot give, for God's ways are not our ways. Lose your life in Christ and you will find new life.

Faith in God

While faith is important, in whom you put your faith is important too. God may not be tangible now, but his works are.
